Aqua Spa Sovata

Aqua Spa Sovata is a natural spa and holiday resort in the town of Sovata in Mureș County, Transylvania, built around the extraordinary natural thermal salt lake complex of which Lake Ursu — the Bear Lake — is the centrepiece: a heliothermal salt lake where sunlight heats the deeper, denser salt layers to temperatures exceeding 60°C while the surface remains cooler, creating a unique natural solar energy storage phenomenon found in only a handful of places worldwide. The chloride-rich salt water of Lake Ursu, with its dense brine composition and remarkable heliothermal temperature gradient, is used therapeutically for gynaecological disorders, rheumatic conditions, and skin diseases in a tradition that attracted Romanian royalty and international scientific curiosity in the late 19th century.
