Terme 3000 Moravske Toplice

Terme 3000 Moravske Toplice is a major thermal spa complex in the Prekmurje region of northeastern Slovenia, where chloride-rich geothermal waters discovered during gas exploration in 1960 at temperatures of 72 degrees Celsius are now used in one of the largest thermal complexes in Slovenia, serving over 350,000 visitors annually. The Prekmurje region — the flat, agricultural, stork-nesting plain east of the Mura river — is geographically and culturally distinct from Alpine Slovenia, sharing more with the Hungarian Great Plain than the Slovenian mountains, with its goose farms, vineyard villages, and evangelical church tradition rooted in the centuries of Hungarian rule. The thermal waters of Moravske Toplice, certified for musculoskeletal and cardiovascular therapy, feed an extensive outdoor and indoor pool complex embedded in the flat Prekmurje countryside where the horizon stretches to Hungary 30 kilometres away and the thermal mist rises above the stork nests in the village rooftops.
