Naba' al-Kebreet (Source de Soufre)

Naba' al-Kebreet, or the Sulphur Spring, is a natural geothermal site in Syria where sulphurous and lightly mineral water surfaces from the earth along the ancient fault systems of the Levantine rift. The sulphurous spring has been used for therapeutic bathing and skin treatment by local communities for centuries, consistent with the longstanding Arab tradition of balneological medicine. Its setting in the Syrian landscape, rich in archaeological and cultural heritage spanning Phoenician, Roman, and Byzantine civilisations, gives the spring a deeply historical dimension.
