Terme Camlica draws chlorurated mineral springs in the coastal town of Terme on the Black Sea coast of Samsun province, where the geothermal water emerging from the Pontide geological formations of the Turkish Black Sea range provides relaxing thermal bathing in a verdant coastal landscape of hazelnut orchards, tea gardens, and fishing villages whose deep green hills and rainy oceanic climate make this corner of Turkey the most environmentally different from the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts that define the country's international image. The Turkish Black Sea coast, sometimes called the Green Turkey, receives over 1,000 millimetres of rainfall annually from the moisture-laden northern winds and produces the world's largest hazelnut harvest, over 70 percent of global production, in a landscape of intensive small-farm agriculture whose terraced hazelnut groves, scattered wooden farmhouses, and mist-wrapped river valleys give the Pontic coast the character of a wet Atlantic periphery transplanted to the southern Black Sea shore. The chlorurated springs of Terme, appreciated for skin comfort and relaxation, flow in a coastal community whose fishing port, hazelnut markets, and proximity to the Kizilirmak delta's bird sanctuary create a Black Sea wellness context completely distinct from the thermal traditions of continental Anatolia.
