Terme Myrhorod

Myrhorod is a historic spa city in the Poltava Oblast of central Ukraine, one of the oldest and most celebrated mineral water resorts in Eastern Europe, whose chloride and bicarbonate-rich saline springs were scientifically documented in the 19th century and whose Myrhorodska mineral water became one of the best-known Ukrainian therapeutic waters. The city was immortalized by Nikolai Gogol in his celebrated satirical story cycle Mirgorod, which portrayed the town's eccentric provincial life with affectionate mockery, making Myrhorod simultaneously a literary monument and a functioning thermal resort in the gentle steppe landscape of central Ukraine. The elegant spa park with its colonnade, drinking pavilions, and sanatorium buildings reflects the golden age of Soviet therapeutic tourism in the mid-20th century, when Myrhorod was a destination for workers' cure vacations across the entire USSR.
