Buckeye Hot Springs is a primitive natural hot spring set in a dramatic canyon above Buckeye Creek in the Toiyabe National Forest east of Bridgeport, California, where bicarbonate-rich geothermal water flows from a cliff face at approximately 52°C and cascades down into natural travertine pools at the creek's edge against a backdrop of the Eastern Sierra's stark volcanic and granite mountain landscape. The travertine formations built up over centuries by the mineral-rich spring deposits create beautifully sculpted natural soaking pools of varying temperatures — cooler near the creek and hotter at the cliff face — in a setting of remarkable Eastern Sierra desert-mountain scenery with views of the Bridgeport Valley and the Sweetwater Mountains.
