Star Valley Hot Springs are situated in Afton, Wyoming, in the Star Valley, a high mountain valley in the Bridger-Teton National Forest settled by Mormon pioneers in the 1870s and 1880s who built a farming and ranching community of remarkable self-sufficiency in a landscape of dramatic mountain grandeur between the Salt River and Wyoming ranges. The valley is notable for its own curiosity — a small intermittent geyser in the town of Soda Springs (actually across the border in Idaho) was reportedly the world's smallest, and the area's tradition of natural spring use dates back generations.
