Casa Diablo Hot Springs is an active geothermal area in the Long Valley Caldera of Mono County, California, where powerful fumaroles, boiling mudpots, and thermal springs mark one of the most geothermally active zones in the contiguous United States. The site, associated with the Long Valley Caldera supervolcanic system, has been developed for commercial geothermal power generation, making it also an example of renewable energy extraction from naturally occurring geothermal resources. The dramatic volcanic landscape of the Eastern Sierra, with Mammoth Mountain, Mono Lake, and the Inyo Craters nearby, places Casa Diablo within one of the most geologically extraordinary regions of North America.
