Indian Hot Springs is a historic thermal resort near Sierra Blanca in Hudspeth County, Texas, where sodium-rich artesian wells produce large volumes of hot mineral water in the Chihuahuan Desert that has served travellers on the historic Camino Real de Tierra Adentro since Spanish colonial times. The springs, used for centuries by indigenous peoples including the Apache and later by Spanish and American settlers, were developed into a resort in the early 20th century with indoor artesian baths fed by flowing hot spring water. The remote Trans-Pecos Texas landscape, dominated by the Franklin Mountains and the vast Chihuahuan Desert, gives Indian Hot Springs a frontier character deeply rooted in the borderlands history of the American Southwest.
