Nathong Village Hot Spring is a natural thermal spring site in the mountainous interior of northern Laos, near a village of the Nathong community, where chloride-bearing warm waters emerge in a remote forested valley and serve as a communal bathing and healing resource for the local highland ethnic population. The springs are one of the less-documented and most authentically traditional thermal sites in the Xieng Khouang region, offering an experience of geothermal bathing entirely embedded within living village culture rather than developed for tourism. The landscape surrounding the spring reflects the agricultural and forested environment of upland Laos where subsistence farming, forest gathering, and traditional medicine practices have coexisted for centuries in the shadow of the Annamite Range mountains.

Insider tip — The salt water of Nathong Village hot spring is ideal for floating weightlessly and relaxing the muscles.
