Tazawako-Kōgen Onsenkyō

Tazawako-Kogen Onsenkyo is a thermal resort cluster in Semboku City, Akita Prefecture, set on the highland plateau surrounding Lake Tazawa—Japan's deepest lake—and often combined with the adjacent Mizusawa Onsenkyo to form the broader Tazawako Kogen Mizusawa Onsenkyo thermal zone serving both hiking and ski resort visitors. The cluster's sulfated waters provide the mineral soak that draws hikers from the trails of Mt. Akita-Komagatake—a beautifully shaped volcanic peak offering alpine flower meadows in summer—and skiers from the Tazawako ski resort on its lower slopes in winter.
