Isehara Onsen is a hot spring area in Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, southwest of Tokyo, whose calcareous mineral waters once attracted bathers to a scattered collection of facilities in the upper and western parts of the city near the renowned pilgrimage sites of Oyama and Hinata Yakushi-do. Isehara lies at the base of the Tanzawa Mountains within the boundary of the Tanzawa-Oyama Quasi-National Park, and its hot spring facilities served both local residents and the large number of pilgrims and hikers who visit the sacred Oyama mountain temple and the Hinata Yakushi temple for spiritual renewal. Though the number of operational bathing facilities has diminished over time, the Isehara area maintains several hot spring sources in the Oyama and Hinata districts that continue to draw visitors seeking the combination of thermal bathing and mountain pilgrimage tradition.
