The Roadside Station Sunflower Hokuryu is a michi-no-eki rest and information facility in Hokuryu Town, Uryu County, Hokkaido, named after the spectacular sunflower fields that cover approximately 23 hectares of the town's agricultural land each summer with over two million sunflowers in bloom, creating one of the most celebrated rural summer spectacles in Hokkaido. The facility combines the standard functions of a Japanese roadside station with local agricultural product sales and visitor information serving the many travelers who come to witness the seasonal sunflower display, and it incorporates bathing facilities that allow visitors to enjoy the local hot spring waters before or after exploring the scenic countryside. Hokuryu's sunflower festival draws visitors from across Japan and abroad each July and August, making the roadside station a busy hub of rural tourism in the wide agricultural plains of the Sorachi region of central Hokkaido.
