Tadami Onsen

Tadami Onsen is a hot spring in Tadami Town, Onuma County, Fukushima Prefecture, set within the remote and magnificently scenic Tadami River valley, one of the most unspoiled mountain landscapes in the Tohoku region where the Tadami River flows through a series of gorges and wetlands surrounded by the beech forests of the Uonuma Highlands. The Tadami River valley is famous for the photogenic railway bridge of the Tadami Line, where morning mist rising from the river creates ethereal reflections of the train on the water surface, one of the most celebrated landscape photography subjects in Tohoku. The sulfurous and simple mineral waters of Tadami Onsen provide restorative bathing in this remote mountain community, whose isolation from major urban centers has preserved both the natural environment and the traditional rural culture of one of Japan's most beautiful river valleys.
