Kabeyu Onsen

Kabeyu Onsen is a hot spring in Oita Prefecture on Kyushu Island, in the prefecture that holds the distinction of producing more hot spring water than any other in Japan, with the famous resort city of Beppu alone possessing over two thousand registered spring sources and generating approximately ten percent of the world's total non-volcanic geothermal hot spring output. Oita's extraordinary geothermal heritage extends throughout the prefecture from the spectacular Beppu Jigoku volcanic vents to the refined resort atmosphere of Yufuin and the rustic mountain springs of the Kuju volcanic plateau, and Kabeyu Onsen represents one of the many distinct bathing destinations distributed across this exceptionally thermally active region of Kyushu.
