Kinkatou

Kinkatou is a wild noyu (natural field spring) in the mountains of Shimamaki Village, Hokkaido, accessible only by forest trail to a thermal spring with no constructed facilities and no single fixed official name—known variously as Kinkayou, Koganei-zawa Onsen, Kogane no Yu, Kogane Onsen, and others, with current signage reading Kinkatou (Golden Flower Hot Water). The siliceous and sulfurous waters combine silica-rich skin-softening properties with volcanic sulfurous potency, making this undeveloped spring one of Hokkaido's more therapeutically intense wild bathing destinations for those willing to make the mountain forest journey to reach it.
