Chojabaru Onsen

Chojabaru Onsen is one of the celebrated Kuju Kokonoto (Nine Hot Springs of Kuju) in Oita Prefecture's Kokonoe Town, situated on the Kuju highland plateau where the Kuju volcanic group—one of Kyushu's most active and extensive volcanic systems—creates a landscape of high-altitude volcanic wetlands, fumarole fields, and exceptional thermal spring diversity. The spring sits within the Kuju Highland volcanic plateau, and the surrounding area (which includes the nearby Hoshio, Makinoto, and Kano-jigoku springs) forms a broader onsenkyo cluster of considerable geothermal richness.
