Baths of Sinan Paşa

The Baths of Sinan Paşa are an Ottoman hammam in Hacıhamza District, Kastamonu Province in the Western Black Sea region of northern Turkey, endowed by Sinan Paşa, a title shared by several prominent Ottoman statesmen whose patronage of architecture left monuments across the empire. Hacıhamza is a district in the inland agricultural zone of Kastamonu Province, a region known for its well-preserved Ottoman heritage including timber-framed houses, mosques, and public baths that reflect the prosperous provincial culture of the Black Sea hinterland. The hammam served the local community of Hacıhamza as a center of hygienic and social bathing within the network of Ottoman civic infrastructure that the paşas of the imperial administration extended to even small provincial districts.
