The Baths of Yusuf Paşa are an Ottoman hammam in Büyükçekmece District on the European side of Istanbul, historically positioned along the main road from Istanbul to Edirne where it crosses the Büyükçekmece lagoon on the remarkable stone bridge built by Sinan in the sixteenth century. Büyükçekmece was an important waystation for travelers, armies, and couriers moving along the Via Egnatia corridor, and the hammam of Yusuf Paşa served this transit population along with the local community. The baths formed part of the Ottoman infrastructure investment in this strategic gateway town west of the imperial capital.
