Baths of Hüseyin Bey

The Baths of Hüseyin Bey are an Ottoman hammam in Kocasinan District, Kayseri Province in central Anatolia, endowed by a local notable whose name the hammam bears as part of the Ottoman tradition of charitable foundation. Kayseri, known in antiquity as Caesarea Mazaca and the capital of Cappadocia, is one of the great historic cities of Anatolia with a rich tradition of Seljuk and Ottoman architecture including multiple hammam complexes that served its large urban population. The Baths of Hüseyin Bey added to this tradition of public bathing philanthropy in a city whose commercial and religious elite were noted for their generous endowment of civic infrastructure.
