The Humbarahane Baths are an Ottoman hammam in the Beyoğlu district of European Istanbul, located in the area that was historically home to the Humbarahane, the Ottoman artillery bombardiers corps whose barracks occupied this part of the city. Beyoğlu, known in earlier centuries as Pera and Galata, was the cosmopolitan quarter of Istanbul where European merchants, diplomats, and Levantine Christians lived alongside Ottoman Muslims, giving its hammams a particularly diverse clientele. The baths served the military personnel and civilian population of this dynamic cross-cultural district on the northern shore of the Golden Horn.
