The Cumalıkızık Baths are a historic Ottoman hammam in Yıldırım District of Bursa Province in northwestern Turkey, serving the community of Cumalıkızık village — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest and most perfectly preserved Ottoman village settlements in the world. Cumalıkızık, founded in the early 14th century as the Ottoman Empire was being established, preserves its original organic street pattern and 270 wooden-frame Ottoman houses in an extraordinary state of authenticity that has made it a reference point for the study of early Ottoman domestic architecture. The village hammam formed an essential part of the communal infrastructure of this remarkable living village, where the Ottoman bathing tradition has been maintained alongside the other social institutions — mosque, market, and fountain — that have sustained community life for seven centuries.
