Shah Ali Hammam

Shah Ali Hammam stands in the historic heart of Isfahan — Esfahan — one of the great cities of the Islamic world, whose boulevards, bridges, and Persian gardens UNESCO has recognised as among the finest achievements of urban design. The hammam sits within a city where the bathing tradition has been intertwined with architecture, poetry, and daily ritual for more than a millennium.

The water flows at a neutral pH of 7.3, warming the tiled chambers in the Persian hammam style: the transition from the outer dressing room through to the heated inner sanctum, where vapour softens the air and the body is gradually surrendered to warmth. The kese and the application of sefid-āb — traditional cleansing paste — follow protocols deeply embedded in Iranian bathing culture.
