Postenan Hot Springs

Postenan Hot Springs in southern Albania provide bicarbonate-rich geothermal bathing in the rugged limestone landscape of the Albanian Riviera hinterland, where the mountains of the Albanian Alps descend steeply toward the Ionian Sea coast in a landscape of extraordinary scenic contrast between the bare grey limestone peaks of the interior and the turquoise waters of the Riviera below. The spring water of Postenan rises from the Jurassic limestone formations of the Çika mountain range, one of the most geologically ancient and botanically rich mountain massifs in the western Balkans, whose Mediterranean flora including wild sage, oregano, and endemic Albanian plants has been recognised for its ecological significance. The proximity of these thermal springs to the extraordinary natural heritage of the Albanian Riviera, including the UNESCO-recognised Butrint archaeological site and the pristine beaches of Sazan and Gjipe, makes Postenan a thermal resource embedded in one of southeastern Europe's most remarkable coastal and mountain landscape combinations.
