Termas de Jurasi

The Termas de Jurasi are high-altitude thermal springs at approximately four thousand metres above sea level in the altiplano of Chile's Tarapaca Region, reachable from Iquique via unpaved mountain roads through one of South America's most arid and dramatic volcanic plateau landscapes. The bicarbonate-rich geothermal waters emerge where flamingos nest in nearby salt flats and Andean condors circle overhead on thermals rising from the sun-baked altiplano, making the thermal bathing experience inseparable from the overwhelming natural grandeur of the Atacama high plateau. A four-wheel-drive vehicle and experienced local guide are essential for the journey, and the combination of physical challenge, extreme altitude scenery, and isolated mineral pools creates an adventure thermal experience of exceptional intensity and wild beauty.
