Hunan Zhangjiajie Hot Springs draw chloride and sulfated mineral water from the karst geological zone of Zhangjiajie — the UNESCO World Heritage landscape of sandstone pillar mountains that inspired the floating Hallelujah Mountains of James Cameron's Avatar film, creating one of China's most internationally recognized and visually extraordinary natural landscapes of soaring quartzite pillars rising from subtropical forest valleys.
