Hot Springs Pongprabaht is a geothermal spring in the Phra Phutthabat district of Saraburi province in central Thailand, near the famous Phra Phutthabat Ratchaworawihan temple, where a Buddha footprint enshrined since the 17th century makes this a major pilgrimage site that draws hundreds of thousands of Thai Buddhist devotees each year. The juxtaposition of natural hot springs and one of Thailand's most sacred sites reflects the ancient Thai association between geothermal water and spiritual blessing, where the warmth of the earth's water was understood as a manifestation of sacred energy. The spring provides warm, naturally mineralised geothermal water in a setting of great religious and cultural significance.

Insider tip — Hot Springs Pongprabaht is a geothermal area in the Golden Triangle foothills of northern Chiang Rai Province, close to the convergence of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar. The thermal waters emerge in a forest clearing maintained as a small national park with wooden walkways over the steaming vents. The site is a popular day-trip from Chiang Rai city and can be combined with visits to Doi Tung Royal Villa and the White Temple at Rong Khun. Morning visits offer the best atmospheric conditions with light mist rising from the warm pools against the cool mountain air.
