Mae Kachan Hot Springs

Mae Kachan Hot Springs, located 40 kilometres south of Chiang Rai city in northern Thailand, is one of the region's most impressive geothermal sites, with springs reaching temperatures of up to 97°C — nearly boiling — emerging from fissures in the granite hills of the Mae Kachan valley. The park is beautifully landscaped with wooden walkways above the steaming vents, and multiple bathing pools have been created at various temperatures, from foot-soaking troughs to comfortable immersion pools. The bicarbonate mineral water, notable for its clarity and purity, deposits vivid orange and yellow mineral formations around the spring vents. The surrounding tropical forest of northern Thailand, with its bamboo groves, wild banana plants and orchids, frames the experience with lush vegetation.
