Insider tip — Tudu Wenquan is a remote Tibetan geothermal spring in the Lhoka region south of Lhasa, where the Indian tectonic plate collides with Eurasia and drives intense volcanic activity. At over 3,500 metres altitude, the sulfurous waters provide welcome warmth for trekkers crossing the high plateau. The spring is relatively undeveloped, with natural stone pools set against a vast landscape of bare mountains and sky. Acclimatise to altitude for at least 48 hours before visiting to fully enjoy the long soak.
