On the Corniche Kennedy, facing the Mediterranean, stands a château built in 1884 in a Renaissance style inspired by the Château de Chambord. Raised for Breton baron Houitte de la Chesnaye under the name Villa Castellamare, the 1,800 m² residence later passed to the Pastis Berger family, who gave it its current name, Château Berger.

Turned into a cosmetic surgery clinic and then a thalassotherapy centre in the 2000s under the Fogli family, the site was taken over by the Bouchard family in 2018. After a year of works, Les Thermes Marins reopened in late 2025 following a renovation that respected the building's historic soul: behind the balneotherapy centre, the old château still stands watch, a quiet witness to a past where people already came seeking rest and renewal by the sea.

Insider tip — Les Thermes Marins in Marseille draws on seawater thalassotherapy traditions, using heated Mediterranean seawater rich in sodium chloride and marine minerals to invigorate the body and skin. The facility overlooks the sea near the Vieux-Port, making it equally easy to combine a thalasso session with exploring the city's vibrant culinary and cultural scene. Sea-water pools, jet showers, and seaweed wraps are the signature treatments, and the briny scent of the ocean permeates the entire experience.
