The Nizhnie Kar'madonskie vanny are located in Karmadon, North Ossetia, in the Russian Caucasus. This sulfurous spring, around 37°C, feeds an indoor bath as well as an open-air outdoor pool.
Insider tip — Nizhnie Kar'madonskie vanny (the Lower Karmadon Baths) are sulfurous thermal springs in the spectacular Karmadon gorge of the central Caucasus, a narrow valley of extraordinary geological drama. The springs gained painful notoriety after the 2002 Kolka glacier disaster which destroyed the village and trapped a film crew. Bathing here carries a somber historical weight. The gorge scenery of sheer cliffs, glaciers, and roaring rivers is among the most magnificent in the entire Caucasus range.
