Loutra Pozar (Loutraki Aridaias) is a spectacular natural hot spring complex in the Aridea municipality of Macedonia in northern Greece, where calcium- and magnesium-rich thermal water at around 37°C flows from cave springs directly into a series of outdoor pools set within a dramatic limestone canyon of lush subtropical vegetation — a landscape so verdant and green that it seems almost impossibly Mediterranean in its character. The gorge's warm springs and pools, surrounded by overhanging rock walls draped in moss and fern, create one of Greece's most atmospherically beautiful natural bathing environments. The surrounding landscape of the Voras-Kaimaktsalan mountain range, with its skiing in winter and hiking in summer, and the nearby ancient Macedonian capital of Aiges (Vergina) provide outstanding complementary attractions.

Insider tip — Make the most of the 37°C waters of Loutra Pozar, ideal for a thermal relaxation session.
