Thermes de Pécs

Pecs is the southernmost major city of Hungary in the Baranya County, at the foot of the Mecsek hills on the border with Croatia, a multicultural city of extraordinary archaeological depth with Roman, medieval, and Ottoman heritage UNESCO-listed in three separate categories — including early Christian burial chambers, medieval university remains, and 16th-century Turkish architecture. Its calcium- and magnesium-rich thermal spring waters, used since Roman times as part of the Pannonian spa culture, feed modern bath facilities that continue the multi-millennium thermal tradition of a city where Romans, medieval Hungarians, Ottoman Turks, and Habsburg Austrians have all bathed in succession.
