Tucked into the thermal valley of Demjén near Eger, Cascade Barlangfürdő has established itself as the largest cave bath complex in Central Europe. The well feeding the site was drilled in 2006, tapping water drawn from a depth of 690 metres; its official recognition and classification by Hungarian public health authorities was finalised in February 2015.

The complex unfolds across roughly 760 metres of illuminated underground passages and pools, with a total water surface of 1,500 m², built around a fantasy fairy-tale theme. Relaxation pools, slides, and play areas line the route, offering an underground bathing experience that stands out even in the Eger region, itself known for its valley of thermal spas.

Insider tip — Barlangfurdo ('Cave Bath') in Eger is carved into the volcanic tuff beneath the Bükk hills, making it one of Hungary's most unusual thermal bathing experiences. The bicarbonate waters at 32°C fill chambers inside natural and sculpted rock, creating a micro-humid environment ideal for respiratory therapy. Eger's famous red wine country begins just outside the spa entrance. The cave setting maintains a constant cool temperature in summer, providing welcome relief from Pannonian heat.
