Pacet Hot Spring in East Java draws sulfurous geothermal waters from the flanks of Mount Welirang at around 700 meters elevation, where volcanic heat is most palpably felt in a landscape of clove and tea gardens above the Mojokerto plains. The thermal site is set within the Pacet highland resort area, offering soaking pools used for muscular recovery after hiking the Arjuno-Welirang volcanic massif above. The broader Mojokerto region contains the Trowulan archaeological zone — capital of the ancient Majapahit Empire, which once ruled most of maritime Southeast Asia — adding exceptional cultural heritage to this volcanic wellness destination.
Insider tip — Pacet's hot springs rise at 45°C on the cool forested slopes of Gunung Welirang near Mojokerto, where the volcanic geology of the Brantas caldera feeds a network of sulfurous vents. The surrounding tea plantations and pine forests make for scenic trekking between soaks. This site is less developed than Ciwidey, offering a more rugged and authentic volcanic springs experience.
