Damavand Hot Spring is located near Rineh village on the southern slopes of Mount Damavand in Mazandaran Province, Iran — the highest volcano in Asia and the highest peak in the Middle East at 5,610 metres, a mountain of enormous cultural significance in Persian mythology featured in the ancient Zoroastrian epic Shahnameh. The calcic thermal waters seep from the volcanic geology of Damavand's flanks, carrying mineral enrichment from deep geothermal activity associated with this still potentially active stratovolcano, and have been used by local communities for skin and joint conditions for centuries. Surrounded by the alpine meadows and forests of the Damavand massif, the spring offers an extraordinary setting where the power of geothermal geology meets the spectacular natural theatre of Iran's most iconic mountain.
