Terme di Viterbo are a family of natural hot spring sites surrounding the medieval city of Viterbo in northern Lazio, Italy — known historically as the 'City of Popes' for hosting the papacy during the 13th century — where volcanic geothermal activity produces abundant sulfurous and bicarbonate springs at comfortable bathing temperatures. The Bacucco springs, like the better-known Bullicame and Carletti springs, are part of this remarkable geothermal landscape and draw on the volcanic geology of the Vulsini caldera complex, producing waters used since Etruscan and Roman times for therapeutic bathing and irrigation.
