Sources Thermales de Hammamat Ma'in

Hammamat Main (Ma'in Hot Springs) is a natural thermal spring resort in the Jordan Valley of the Madaba Governorate, where chloride-rich hydrothermal waters at temperatures between 42 and 63 degrees Celsius cascade from basalt cliffs in spectacular natural waterfalls into cold river pools below, creating a uniquely dramatic natural contrasting temperature bathing experience in a desert canyon landscape. The thermal springs of Ma'in, historically identified with the ancient Callirhoe hot springs documented by the Jewish historian Josephus Flavius as the site where Herod the Great sought relief for his terminal illness in 4 BC, represent one of the most anciently documented therapeutic springs in the entire Middle East.
