Hanashiki Onsen

Hanashiki Onsen is located in Naganohara Town, Gunma Prefecture, in the Agatsuma highland region where the volcanic thermal activity of the Kusatsu volcanic system has blessed the area with multiple natural hot spring sources amid forests and agricultural fields that define the quieter corners of Gunma's famous onsen country. The siliceous thermal waters here serve a rural community in the upper Agatsuma River basin where traditional Gunma farming culture, including the cultivation of konnyaku (devil's tongue yam) — a Gunma specialty for which the prefecture produces over 90% of Japan's supply — coexists with the mineral spring bathing traditions of the volcanic highland.
