Sahoro Hot Spring is found near the Sahoro Resort in Shintoku, a central Hokkaido mountain resort community known for its Sahoro ski resort — operated in collaboration with Club Med as one of the chain's showcase all-inclusive Japanese resorts — and for the adjacent Sahoro Bear Mountain facility, a large natural enclosure that houses a thriving population of Hokkaido brown bears (Ussuri brown bears) and allows close observation of these magnificent animals in something approaching their natural behavior, including spectacular summer feeding frenzies at artificial fish-filled pools. The resort draws on the geothermal springs of the Hidaka volcanic belt, which extends through this part of central Hokkaido and feeds the hot spring waters that provide essential recovery and relaxation for skiers, wildlife watchers, and nature enthusiasts.
