Omura Onsen

Omura Onsen is located in Omura, a city in Nagasaki Prefecture on the shores of Omura Bay — Japan's largest semi-enclosed bay, whose sheltered waters have been used for various marine industries and today host significant aquaculture operations — and a city with a distinctive Christian heritage as the domain of Omura Sumitada, the first Japanese feudal lord to convert to Christianity, who was baptized in 1563 and actively supported the Jesuit missions in Kyushu, creating a Christian feudal domain that was eventually suppressed in the Tokugawa anti-Christian campaigns of the 17th century. Omura is also the gateway to Nagasaki Airport (located on a reclaimed island in Omura Bay), making it a transit city for travelers arriving in Nagasaki Prefecture by air.
