Toon Onsen

Toon Onsen is found in Toon, a city in the hinterland of Matsuyama in Ehime Prefecture formed from the merger of several municipalities in the Shigenobu River basin, a landscape of rice paddy farmland, forested ridges, and the dramatic limestone gorge of Iyozankei where the Shigenobu River cuts through ancient karst formations in a scenic canyon popular with hikers and onsen bathers who come to the outdoor rock pools set directly in the river gorge.
