Imari Onsen Saga is located in Imari City, Saga Prefecture, the historic port through which Japan's famous Imari porcelain was shipped from Arita kilns to the world — Imari-yaki, characterised by its rich blue, red, and gold colour palette, was so coveted in 18th-century Europe that it was imitated by Meissen, Delft, and Sèvres factories and displayed in the porcelain rooms of Dresden's Zwinger Palace. The chloride-rich thermal waters of Imari's hot springs draw from the coastal geology of Imura Bay, offering saline mineral baths that combine the warming character of inland thermal waters with the mineral richness associated with the nearby Genkai Sea.
