Yunotani Onsen Niigata

Yunotani Onsen Niigata is a mountain hot spring in the Yunotani area of Uonuma City in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, a deep-valley region of the Echigo Mountains known for producing Japan's most acclaimed Koshihikari rice and for receiving some of Japan's heaviest snowfall, with depths regularly reaching 3–4 meters — the 'snow country' immortalized by Kawabata Yasunari's Nobel Prize-winning novel. The naturally sulfurous spring waters here carry the distinctive mineral character of volcanic sulfur springs and, within a long thermal tradition, are associated with well-being and a deeply warming soak that is doubly welcomed in the extreme winter cold of Niigata's snow-buried mountain valleys.
