Olkaria Geothermal Spa near Lake Naivasha in Kenya's Rift Valley is the only commercial thermal spa in East Africa to draw directly on power plant geothermal infrastructure, where bicarbonate-rich steam condensate from the Olkaria geothermal field — Kenya's primary renewable electricity source — is cooled to therapeutic temperatures for bathing in pools overlooking Hell's Gate National Park. The spa is situated inside or adjacent to the extraordinary Hell's Gate gorge, where geothermal steam vents, basalt cliffs, and free-roaming giraffes, zebras, and buffalo create Africa's most visually dramatic thermal landscape.
