Aguas Termales de Boaco

Aguas Termales de Boaco are natural sulphate- and calcium-rich thermal springs in the central Nicaraguan department of Boaco, in the highland interior east of Lake Nicaragua, where geothermal water surfaces from the volcanic basement in a landscape of cattle ranching and coffee culture that defines Nicaragua's central mountain zone. The springs serve the local population and provide a modest thermal tourism attraction in an area of Nicaragua relatively little visited by international travellers. The Boaco department's traditional culture — with its cowboy horsemanship festivals, artisanal pottery, and the legendary Fiestas de Boaco — and the scenic montane landscape of the central highlands give the region a distinctively Nicaraguan rural character.
