'Hashiriyu' (走り湯 — running hot water) refers to a spectacular phenomenon where hot spring water sprays horizontally from a cliffside cave into the sea — one of Japan's most unusual spring formations, and still visible at Izusan beach. Atami itself is Japan's classic honeymoon resort, famous for fireworks over Sagami Bay.
