The story of the Driburg-Therme begins in 1986, when Bad Driburg's town council decided to drill in search of thermal water. The work succeeded in 1987: at a depth of nearly 900 metres, near the Caspar-Heinrich-Klinik, warm water at 25°C came to the surface, its quality judged suitable for spa use.
After several years of site preparation, the facility finally opened in 1994. Its indoor and outdoor pools, fed by this natural underground reservoir rich in minerals, now make it a family-friendly retreat in the Höxter district of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Insider tip — Driburg Therme is the modern wellness center anchoring the historic spa town of Bad Driburg in the Teutoburg Forest foothills of North Rhine-Westphalia. The bicarbonate-rich waters have been celebrated since at least the 18th century, when the counts of Oeynhausen developed the spa gardens that still surround the establishment. The adjacent Baroque park is one of Germany's finest surviving spa garden ensembles.
