Baños Termales de Villo

Baños Termales de Villo is a sulfurous thermal spring site in Yanahuanca, the capital of the Daniel Alcides Carrión province in the Pasco region of Peru's central highlands, where geothermally heated sulfurous mineral waters emerge from the complex geological formations of the central Andean plateau in a landscape shaped by the intense mining history of Pasco — one of Peru's most mineralized departments where copper, zinc, lead, and silver deposits have been exploited since pre-Inca times and where the famous Cerro de Pasco at 4,380 meters is one of the world's highest cities. The province of Daniel Alcides Carrión is named for Peru's national medical martyr who died at age 26 after infecting himself with bartonellosis to prove its pathogenic origin, and the region's thermal springs serve communities in a department better known for its mining heritage than its wellness culture but endowed with significant geothermal resources along its Andean fault systems. The sulfurous spring waters provide therapeutic bathing in the high-altitude mineral landscape of central Peru's most industrially significant highland plateau.
