Pozos Termales is a natural sulphurous hot spring site in Panama, one of the geothermal manifestations associated with the volcanic geology of the Central American isthmus that has, over geological time, connected and separated the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Panama's geothermal activity, concentrated in the Chiriquí highlands near the border with Costa Rica and in the volcanic arc of the Azuero Peninsula, produces scattered hot spring sites used by local indigenous and campesino communities for bathing and healing. The surrounding Panamanian tropical landscape, with its extraordinary biodiversity positioned at the junction of North and South American ecosystems, provides one of the world's most biodiverse contexts for any geothermal site.

Insider tip — Plan a visit early in the morning or in late day to avoid the crowds and fully enjoy the experience.
